Today, green grass and beautiful spotted calves are running everywhere. A planned breeding season with a great bull last year makes all the difference for a happy spring calving this year.

But, what about the calves born in 2011? Now is the time to select a great young herd sire for 2010. And, DCCI is here to help.

DCCI produces, measures, weighs and eye-ball evaluates over 500 calves a year and only the best of the best are retained for herd sires. Great young bulls are grown-out and available at reasonable prices with many dozen to select from. The average price for a young bull is $1654 -- and that's not bad!

Transparency is an often used media word. It means "easily understood or detected; clear or obvious." In purchasing young bulls, data must be easily understood, clear and obvious, and lots of it. Is that fair enough?

At DCCI every animal is weighed twice a year. Horns measured one to 3 times a year, pedigrees evaluated back beyond 1964 and disposition score numbers are calculated on every bull. Weaning weights reveal maternal milk --- also very important on every bull.
