Dickinson Cattle Co has been approved as a special tourist oriented activity which features ranch tours during the Summer. The Ohio Department of Transportation system provides for reflective signs to direct travelers to businesses or attractions of a major interest. The Cattle Co is located near Barnesville, Ohio with frontage on I-70 which is convenient for this special program. Pictured is the Joel Dickinson family who are partners and ranch owners.

Barnesville, Ohio---Dickinson Cattle Co has been designated as an official attraction for Interstate travelers on I-70 in eastern Ohio. The Texas Longhorn cattle ranch receives up to 8000 guests per year and qualifies for the special Tourist Oriented Directional Sign (TODS) program extended to increase rural tourism. The TODS program is provided to qualified businesses for identification and directional information for approved tourist oriented activities. The Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio Logos, Inc administer the program for the state of Ohio.

Dickinson Cattle Co. is one of the few cattle ranches in the USA that qualifies for TODS. There are several dozen governmental requirements for tourist interest, location, public appeal, minimum number of annual visitors, educational requisites, and historical presentations. To qualify the services include a Longhorn Store, Ranch Bus Tours, public facilities and the main attractions are the Texas Longhorn cattle herds.

The TODS system provides four reflective signs on the I-70 right of way near the pavement and clearly visible night or day. For Dickinson Cattle Co signs are one mile west and one mile east of I-70 Ohio exit 202. Smaller signs are at the exit ramp for more specific directions.

Dickinson Cattle Co is known for famous Texas Longhorn, Dutch BueLingo and African Watusi registered cattle. From this location cattle are bred and raised then marketed in the USA and several other countries. The Longhorn Store and Longhorn Tours are available during the tourist season. The popular tour is a narrated ranch bus ride through several cattle pastures with educational information provided for 75 minutes. Visitors can feed big horned cattle from the bus a specially prepared "cow candy."

Famous cattle domiciled and personally visited during tours include Lawman, the International Champion Trophy Steer of 2006, and Shadow Jubilee, the fastest horn growing cow in recorded history of the Texas Longhorn breed.
